Participant self-declaration statement
By entering the 13 Valleys Ultra event, and subsequently presenting at the start line, I understand the challenge that it represents. As an experienced off-road endurance runner I believe myself to be able to complete the event, having familiarised myself with the details on this website.
- I am both aware, and capable of completing the distance required having completed similar events.
- I have sufficient experience to understand how to manage my safety in remote mountainous terrain.
- I acknowledge the demands on me with regard to navigation, managing my own nutrition and hydration and the other safety challenges that I may encounter when on the remote hills of the Lake District.
- I recognise I will need to be able to navigate the terrain safely at night, in the dark and in potentially challenging weather conditions.
- I understand the physical and mental demands that will be brought not only by the distance, but also the elevation gain and loss over the course of the event.
- I will have completed sufficient training, for both skills and physical fitness, to ensure I meet the above statements between entering and participating in the event.
- I will apply sound mountain judgement at all times, knowing my limitations and will make reasoned decision with regard to starting / withdrawing from the event, even if it compromises my race result.
There will be additional cut off points along the route to give participants the best chance of completing the event inside the overall time.

- All participants must attend the event briefing.
